Originally, each police force in the region had its own independent fund, but in the 1970s, Cheshire Constabulary, Greater Manchester Police, and Merseyside Police united their resources to better support their members. Over the years, we’ve grown to include Lancashire, Cumbria, North Wales Police, and the National Crime Agency.
The North West Police Benevolent Fund has been providing support for police officers for over 50 years
Our goal is simple: to provide crucial financial, physical, and mental health support to our 18,000 members across six forces
With our dedicated facilities at St Michael’s Lodge, supported by our satellite centres throughout the region, we offer physiotherapy, mental health services, and ongoing assistance to officers in need.
Our management team
Jeremy Graham - CEO
Jeremy Graham brings over 33 years of policing experience to his role as CEO of the Ben Fund.
Beginning his career with Lancashire Constabulary and later serving as Chief Constable of Cumbria Constabulary, he understands the realities of policing from the front line to senior leadership.
After chairing the Ben Fund’s Trustee Board through a period of significant growth, Jeremy became Chief Executive in 2019. He is driven by a simple purpose: ensuring officers receive the support they need, when they need it most.

Jo Taylor - Clinical sevices manager
Jo brings over 25 years of experience across the NHS and healthcare settings, having worked as a Registered General Nurse before training as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist. Her career spans a wide range of clinical environments, giving her a deep understanding of both the physical and psychological demands placed on those working in high-pressure roles.
Through her work with emergency services personnel in both NHS and private settings, Jo has developed a strong appreciation of the unique challenges faced by police officers on the frontline. At the Ben Fund, she is committed to ensuring members can access compassionate, professional support that recognises the realities of policing and treats the individual, not just the symptoms.

Gill Parry - HR manager
Gill brings over 37 years of service with Lancashire Police, with a career spanning frontline support, specialist roles, and senior leadership. Her early experience in areas including covert policing and counter-terrorism gave her a deep understanding of both the operational and human realities of policing.
Moving into people-focused leadership, Gill went on to lead workforce wellbeing as People Services Manager and Head of Occupational Health, where she championed resilience, compassionate leadership, and proactive health support. Since joining the Ben Fund in 2019, Gill has continued to focus on supporting the physical and mental wellbeing of members and staff, ensuring care is rooted in real understanding of the pressures faced by those who serve in policing.
